Well, here we are again as we start another year of tree-following. If you are an existing follower I do hope you will continue in 2022 but new enthusiasts are also very welcome to join us.
The monthly link box is now open for contributions and will stay open until 7pm GMT on January 14.
Some of you may be choosing a new tree in January, some may leave it until spring, but any time of year is fine.
I intend to use January to look back at the 2021 of my Lombardy poplar (Populus nigra ‘Italica’) in Cardiff’s Victoria Park before launching my new tree in February. Although I had hoped to find a subject in a different park, I have been smitten by the tulip tree pictured above, so I will be going back to Victoria Park yet again.
I wonder what all you regular tree followers are up to? I’m sure you will have something new to report. Point to any tree-related post you would like to share, using the link box below. And please don’t forget to leave a comment.
If you are new to tree following, read all about the idea here, although I appreciate that I must update that page when I have the chance!
Happy new year! Thanks for hosting this meme for another month. I had added my link.
Might I say it’s a very handsome quince in a very pretty pocket.
Thanks for continuing π
I have posted about my newest tree friends. Thanks, Pat, for hosting these gatherings. They are a wonderful way for me to escape from the real world!! Best wishes.
Love your new choice – and the detective work!
It will be great to see the trees change through the seasons as you start your watch from cold midwinter.
All the best π
Hi Hollis, I enjoyed your tree following post and also your most recent post on the geology of Nevada. Unfortunately, your blog won’t let me comment for some reason. Even though my blog is also on Blogger….

Hope you sorted out your technical difficulties π
And I’m glad you will be following the tulip tree. It will be fun to learn about this species I don’t know.
Thanks. I have seen them before in various parks but it will be good to take in the monthly details.
Best wishes π
Hello, I’ve just posted and added the link for Liz’s smoke tree and my sweet chestnut. xx
I got a late start this year due to a combination of horrible weather and covid quarantine, but finally I managed to visit my chosen new tree(s) to follow.
I look forward to finding out more about the tulip tree, a tree I’m not very familiar with

Thanks. Obviously I am so late answering that I have already published my first bulletin now!
