Horse chestnut beside the river Taff

In the centre of Cardiff we are blessed with long paths alongside the River Taff and I walk along one of them at least once a week. I have been watching the trees as they have gradually come into leaf and have managed to make quite a few basic identifications. (more…)

The Big Friendly Giant stood at the entrance to the Cardiff Flower Show – Roald Dahl came from Cardiff

In Cardiff it is definitely spring, with lots of new growth, but I wonder what the weather is like where you are – do some of you still have snow?

Celtic designs on an Irish dancing dress

That great show Riverdance is in Cardiff this week, at St David’s Hall for a couple of days as part of a tour to celebrate 21 years since the first performance. By chance it is now 21 years since I took these pictures of young people dancing in the Irish style in Kinsale, County Cork, in the summer of 1995, before the Riverdance phenomenon began in earnest.
