Aberglasney House and Gardens, Carmarthenshire, in Summer

Aberglasney House and Gardens have a very long history, maybe dating back to the 14th century. The place fell into dire disrepair in the 20th century until it was taken on by the Aberglasney Restoration Trust in 1995. The friends of Aberglasney have done a tremendous job since then, gradually adding to the areas they have made safe, refurbished and planted. It is now a glorious place, as I hope my pictures show.

Carreg Cennen Castle, Carmarthenshire

Carreg Cennen Castle, at Trapp, near Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, is one of my favourite castles. I first visited it on a foggy day while on an archaeological dig in the 1970s but now return quite often to see it through all its seasons
Dewstow Gardens and Grottoes, Monmouthshire

At Dewstow, a few miles from Chepstow in Monmouthshire, is a lost (and found) garden with tunnels and underground grottoes, buried for more than 50 years and rediscovered in 2000.

Like you I visited Carreg Cennen Castle on a misty day which I thought gave it that air of mystery,I loved it. I lived on the Welsh Borders so know most of the Castles where there is so much history to absorb. I believe Cadew have them all under control archaeology wise dont they.
