The tree-following link box has now closed for another month. To explore everyone’s updates, please go straight to the bottom of this post.
If you are new to tree following, read all about the idea here.
Here in Cardiff summer seems to be over, with the weeks of hot drought followed by heavy rain now giving way to chillier mornings and cloudier days. For once autumn is starting on time here, with many street trees starting to change colour and seeds and berries everywhere.
Our ranks of tree followers are growing all the time, so why not join them next time? Point us to any tree-related post you would like to share, using the link box published on the 7th of each month and lasting for a week.
We always love to read your tree news – so thank you to everyone who contributed this month. Here are the links…
Erika Groth in Sweden – bird cherry
Alison at the Blackberry Garden – so many quinces
Hollis (In the Company of Plants and Rocks) – boxelder (Acer negundo) and whatever’s nearby
Flighty’s Plot – Liz’s black walnut in Lexington, Kentucky, and Mike’s medlars
Frances at Island Threads, off the North West coast of Scotland – hornbeam (Carpinus betulus)
Pat – Squirrelbasket – small-leaved linden
Thank you to everyone for taking part – see you all again on October 7!
Nice to hear that you have a proper autumn. Autumn has for me always felt like the real start of the year. I guess it’s because I spent so many years in the world of education, also as an adult. This autumn I’ve moved out to a tiny village in the countryside from the small town I lived in for about 2,5 years and I’ve changed job. So this autumn really is a new start for me. I’m still following the bird cherry but I’ve already started looking around for next year’s tree to follow. After all, winter is less than a couple of months away up here although it doesn’t feel like it now.
I always feel the same way in autumn when the schools go back for a new year. Suddenly i feel all creative. I always think it’s the best time for new year resolutions, too!
Glad you are thinking about next year already – so maybe we will all still be together for this meme π
My post is up. Surprisingly, not a lot of autumnal change yet but some drought damage showing. π
I’ll go and look at your post now.
To be honest I was hasty to say autumn is here – it’s only a few species that are rushing into it…
All the best π
Thanks for hosting this meme again. I love reading up on all the followed trees.
Me too – I’ll go and visit your post now π
Autumn snuck up on me this year. If it weren’t for tree-following, I might still be overlooking color changes! Need to fix priorities.
Thank you for calling it autumn for our benefit! I thought you called it “fall” over there!
I will go over to your blog post to have a look immediately…
All the best π
Hello, I’ve just added the link for this month’s post about Liz’s black walnut and my medlars. xx
Thanks. Got it π
hello Pat, sorry nearly forgot it was tree following week, glad I just made it, thanks for hosting, Frances
