Welcome to my first attempt to provide a monthly tree-following link box after taking over the project from Loose and Leafy. The box is now closed but you’ll find everyone’s links at the bottom of the post.
It’s a mixed time of year for the trees here in the UK in the Autumn (or Fall to those of you in North America). Some have lost nearly all their leaves. Some, like the lindens, cast off their lemon-yellow leaves early. Some, like the wonderful maples, are a beautiful red. Some trees still have their seeds attached…
Some trees will stay green all winter…
And if you are in the southern hemisphere the seasons are upside-down and for you it is late Spring.
Are you following a particular tree?
If so – add a link to your post about it in the box below.
Whether you follow a tree regularly or just occasionally, please check the master list here to make sure you are on it. Email any corrections or additions to squirrelbasket@gmail.com.
If not – why not start?
You can become a tree follower at any time in the year.
Do join us. All you need to know is here.
The November tree-following link box is now closed, but here are all the contributions we received this month…
Erika @ Tur I oturen (Maple Tree)
Patterson Webster at Site & Insight
Natalie – Christ Church, Welshpool
Natalie – Slate Grey, Lime and Hay
Liz’s Stewartia and Flighty’s Fig Tree
Caroline Gill (Wild and Wonderful)
Also, better late than never, Eileen has posted about her Silver Birch:
Thank you to everyone – see you all again on December 7…
I wanted to try this tree-following thing, but the one I chose hasn’t gone anywhere yet!
If I had the time, this golden ash (I don’t know if that’s a real name) in my local park would be a good candidate: https://www.flickr.com/photos/paul_seligman_cardiff/21647602709/
Yes, they are wonderful trees (I blogged about the ones in Llandaff Fields last year – see here.
You don’t need a blog to write about a tree occasionally – just email me some words and a picture or two and I can include it in the tree-following post.
All the best 🙂
Autumn where I live is the best we’ve had in years. Last year it seemed as if the leaves were there one day and all dropped off the next. Other years they seem to have hung on all brown and boring for ages. But now? What a difference! Wildly different colours – reds, and oranges, yellows, golds and greens all mixed together along the hillsides and hedge rows. Possibly all will change today. The weather is suddenly windy and wet so autumn may be blown away. (Or, perhaps it would be better said that autumn is arriving at last for what would autumn be without gales?)
Glad you and your computer are still in the land of the living and you are still getting out and about.
Guess what – my ageing computer went totally belly up today as well! Luckily I have a spare of sorts!
All the best 🙂

Great that you are willing to take over hosting the tree following. I did notice though that the tree following list hasn’t been updated. It should say maple tree, not apple tree, for “Erika Groth”.
Thank you for following! I have updated the information now, but still mention that last year it was an apple – I always think the more information the better.
Best wishes 🙂
Hi – thanks for taking on the hosting of this meme. I love tree following and getting to read about everybody else’s trees too
Thank you for following the wooded trail over to my blog.
I hope we will all get along fine beneath the trees…
All the best 🙂
Thank you for stepping up and taking over while Lucy gets her computer problems sorted. This is the first year I’ve taken part in this meme and look forward to doing so in the future. It’s also exciting to add a new blog to my reader too.
Thank you so much. I am already thinking of trees for next year, so hope Lucy doesn’t snatch the meme back from me in a hurry!
All the best 🙂
Thanks so much, SB, for taking over. I would miss these gatherings if we didn’t have them! Snow fell just in time for me to report a big change in scenery.
Excellent. Thanks for staying with us.
I had a bit of a computer crisis yesterday, but will come and visit your post immediately, while I still have some functionality. I love snow!
All the best 🙂
I’ve posted my tree following entry for November — the first time I’ve written about it in several months. Anyone going to the link should be sure it’s for November 2015 and not November 2014 — this year’s tree is a linden.
I definitely want to send a big thank you to SB for taking over the meme. I so enjoy checking out other blogs and reading what others see and then share about their individual trees. It’s a grand way to reach beyond the borders of a province, or a region, or a country.
Thank you for that. I can imagine it’s difficult to be beside your tree every month when you do so much travelling all over the world!
I think you have linked to your home page, so for those who have trouble finding the right post for November 2015, this is the link.
All the best for now 🙂
Pat, thank you for making the correction to my link… I’ll try to use the correct one next month.
No problem! It wasn’t in any way a criticism.
I have just (semi) retired, so hopefully I will have slightly more time to keep up with your blog posts and everyone else’s in future.
All the best 🙂
Thanks for taking over – it’s such a great meme, and I’d really miss it as, I know, would many other people. Much appreciated!
I have just been over to visit your blog(s) – both well worth a read!
I hope at least some of you will also stay with me into 2016 with a new tree when the time comes…
All the best 🙂
In the hands of the right person 🙂
Enjoy
Thanks so much 🙂
Hope I can live up to expectations!
All the best

[…] This business of following a tree and learning about its ways, then sharing that information with interested, tree-loving readers. Additionally, we Tree Followers have a new hostess for our tree meme addiction, lately resigned by Lucy of Loose and Leafy, but bravely acquired by Pat at The Squirrelbasket. […]
I’m so glad that you’re taking on the Tree Following meme–it’s such a great meme and helps this rather lazy gardener focus on actually learning about a tree. Plus, it’s always a bonus to learn about other trees from many places.
Thanks – and I see you have just picked up a new tree, so I have updated your details on the main tree-following page.
It’s great that you have started one in November, as it gives me hope that I will have at least one fellow follower for 2016!
All the best 🙂
Hello I’ve just done a combined post for Liz’s Stewartia and A fig tree and added the link here.
Many thanks from both of us for taking over as Tree Following host. I’m sure that both of us will be continuing with new trees early next year. xx
Excellent! I am looking forward to 2016 already!
All the best to you both 🙂
So happy to see you are taking over the meme, SB! I will look forward to following your blog, which I have somehow missed in the past. My little desert tree has been duly observed for November, albeit a bit late – so happy to find I’m not too late to link 🙂
Delighted to continue – the last couple of years with my monthly tree visits have been wonderful.
I’m sorry I have only just seen your comment – it was stuck in the spam filter!
All the best 🙂
Hello! This year I’ve been following a favorite, childhood memory tree, the Red Mulberry. Hope to follow along in 2016! Thank you and Lucy for the extra time and effort spent in this endeavor!
Thank you for your enthusiasm – I am looking forward to 2016, with several of you already declaring an interest in carrying on.
All the best 🙂
Pat, Thank you so much for hosting the tree following meme. I’m finding it a wonderful way to learn more about the trees on my property and in other people’s gardens. Although I am following a red maple (Acer rubrum tree, which is now bare of leaves, I also have American beech (Fagus grandifolia) trees, which hang onto their golden-beige leaves through the winter.
I have been over to your blog to comment – what a lovely maple!
I hope you will stay with us in 2016, too.
All the best 🙂
