The sycamore in the distance, framed by alder catkins
Well, I’m really cutting this fine – just in time to publish my tree-following blog post for the month.
I had hoped to visit the sycamore in Llandaff Fields when it snowed last week, but the snow only lasted an hour or two before it turned to rain.
So I ended up visiting today, as the cold and snowy weather from the north and warmer, wetter weather from the south competed and left South Wales with a window of a few hours of sunshine.
Here are my photos from a visit today (March 14)…

The sycamore across the field

The leaf buds are green and ready to pop

Moss high up on the trunk

Someone has placed brick and stones in a hole at the bottom of the tree

The little tree that has been growing in the fork of the sycamore for years

Some of last year’s tree seeds have germinated, but I doubt if they will thrive among the grass
Phew! Just made it – it hasn’t helped that my desktop computer went belly up when the hard drive failed a fortnight ago, so I have only just got used to the replacement. I am also still struggling with Photoshop Elements, having had the full Photoshop software for processing images previously…
And just a reminder that in America this would be called a sycamore maple but in the UK it’s simply a sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus).
All my sycamore posts are here.
That’s it for now – see you again next month…
It’s an impressive looking tree. xx
Thank you. It does have rather a good shape and size…
All the best 🙂
Definitely spring there in South Wales! I hope you have opportunities to enjoy it.
Thank you. I really MUST get out more this year…
All the best 🙂
