The bare tulip tree in February 2022
I will soon be starting to follow a new tree so it’s time to look back on 2022, the year of the tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) in Cardiff’s Victoria Park.
For the record, all my tulip tree posts can be found here.
These are some of my photos taken from winter through spring, summer and autumn to winter again…

Dead seed head on the ground in March

Fresh new leaves in April

Soft leaves, new flower buds and dry old fruits in May

Bright flowers in June

Some fallen leaves in the August drought

A few premature autumn leaves in September

More dying leaves in October

Drying fruit and leaves in November

A proper autumn display
Those are the details but here are some more general views:

So that’s it for now. The tree-following link box will open for all your 2023 news on January 7 – see you then!
Such a nice recap, you’ve done this tree a good service.
It was certainly an impressive tree to follow through the year. xx
