A local landmark #1: The Conway Road Methodist Church, built in 1871
Once again I am signing up for the Summer Photography Scavenger Hunt hosted by Mary-Lou at Patio Postcards – the first monthly link-up is here.
I am still working from home and have no need to travel more than a mile or two, so my scope is again rather limited. I am also lacking in imagination at the moment so have not made a particularly good start to the hunt in June, but here are my offerings…

A local landmark #2: The Victoria Park public house, near Victoria Park, which I visit monthly

Breakfast of champions: Eggs Benedict delivered every Sunday by the Saffron Cafe – my life has changed since I have stopped spending so much time cooking breakfast on a Sunday

The art of the fold: Kleenex extra large tissues in a small box…

…each tissue comes out perfectly in one go and doesn’t disturb those underneath – I hate the way the bigger boxes give you two tissues stuck together at the start and end of each box

What’s in bloom #1: Deutzia in my garden – it had a mass of flowers this year because it hadn’t been pruned last year in the lockdown

What’s in bloom #2: Rose growing in a garden beside the street

Window views: In very strong north-easterly winds last weekend a large ash bough came down and was dangling outside my window for a few days before the tree surgeons came to remove it…

…but our tame crow Rocky thought it a useful addition to his perching places

Something older than me: A pair of silver salt bowls hallmarked Birmingham 1898 – they started my small collection of silver salts

Upside down, right side up: One of our squirrels in a state of agitation, squawking…

…and more laid-back, lazing in the sunshine
Thanks to the organiser for a challenging list of subjects – I look forward to seeing what other people have photographed. Every interpretation is different.
This is the full list of subjects: Breakfast of champions * Favourite time of day * Something to represent home but not the building * Head in the clouds; shapes or interesting patterns * The art of the fold * Something that makes you laugh or happy * What’s in bloom * Window views * Something older than you * The delivery van/truck making the deliveries * The shape of round/circular * Something that is cause for celebration * Your Marie Kondo moment – or not * Inside your fridge or cupboard * Your best doodle art (not public graffiti) * A guilty pleasure; Something that recharges you * An exit * Upside down, right side up * Steps, but who’s counting * Decades of sharing; find something in your home that is from the 70’s or 80’s or 90’s or 00’s
Alternatives: Show off your COVID safety; masks, cleaning, or other related supplies * A local landmark * The most beautiful landscape photo of the season
See you again in a month’s time…
Your deutzia is so pretty – sadly the one I planted last year didn’t make it through the winter.
You’ve made a good start. The breakfast looks so tasty and I like your interpretation of the ‘art of the fold’ – tissues didn’t occur to me and I know what you mean about the tissue boxes that don’t dispense the tissues properly.
Thank you for the kind comments, although I am racking my brains to work out what to do for some of the other categories…
All the best 🙂
you build sunbeds for your squirrels ;~)
Actually it’s the neighbour’s leisure/pleasure facility/fence…
All the best – stay safe 🙂
Pat thanks for joining us in the SPSH. You have made a great start with your finds & our minds are thinking the same about upside down! I think for many of us staying close to home is still the requirement for COVID rules, I know it is for us, hence why some of the items will be easier to find than others.
Thank you so much for the challenge. I must put my thinking cap on for the next batch – and tidy my fridge before I do that portrait of the inside!
All the best 🙂
Love the photos…love the landmark, and that breakfast looks amazing.
Thank you – I made a mess transferring the eggs Benedict to a lovely white plate so the picture unfortunately had to show the non-environmentally-friendly packaging…
I have just signed up to follow your uplifting blog.
All the best 🙂
