Everywhere in Victoria Park on my March visit there were crocus growing in the grass – although these were accidentally in the middle of a flower bed
As usual I took some general pictures around Cardiff’s Victoria Park when I visited in March for the monthly Lombardy poplar tree following update. Here are the latest images…

Main flower bed – no bedding plants this year…

…although these special daisies (Bellis perennis) offered welcome colour

In the grassy areas wild daisies were also flowering…

…as well as lesser celandine (Ficaria verna)

Blown down by the wind were these catkins…

…belonging to these as yet unidentified trees

The bandstand…

…the top of the bandstand

A cherry tree

White cherry buds…

…just breaking into bloom

Pink cherry buds

…just blooming

Unidentified buds…

…and another one I will need to watch to identify it

Gull – possibly a herring gull (Larus argentatus) in its second winter?

In the crook of this tree was a strange tribute…

…it says Bale 11 – I assume a reference to the Welsh football (soccer) international Gareth Bale, who sometimes wore number 11 on his shirt

This tree near the entrance/exit is intriguing…

…old and new cones knot together…

…a closer look – I think it must be an ornamental hybrid of the larch (Larix)
And finally…

Pretty daffodils (Narcissus) growing around a log
