After a relentlessly dismal 2020 it’s time to sit back and admire all the Christmas cards we have received.
Last Christmas I was expecting an imminent hip replacement for my husband but the Covid pandemic put paid to his operation date in March, at the last minute. He has been in agony and shuffling with a Zimmer frame for months but finally had the hip replacement last week – and he came home to me on Christmas Eve a much more cheerful man! So we hope “things can only get better” as long as we can avoid the dreaded virus.
Is it just me or did Christmas cards seem a bit subdued this year? Anyway, here are just some of the designs that caught my eye. As usual, click on the image to go to the source if it’s a charity.
Of course this year there are references to the Covid-19 pandemic…

Virtual Three Kings on a Zoom call for Private Eye

If only everyone could be Driving Home for Christmas… a Waitrose card in aid of the National Autistic Society, Whizz-Kidz and the Wildlife Trusts

There always have to be sheep – Baa Humbug by Tim Mason for Dobbies Garden Centres

Whooper Swans by Robert Gillmor for Penna Press and The Wildlife Trusts and The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust
There are always a few unusual ones…

A Merry Christmas by Leendert Jan Vis in the Netherlands

Cactus and baubles by Michelle…

A wood engraving of special old yachts by Henry Middleton
That’s it for now, although I expect there will be a few stragglers in the next few days. Have a wonderful Christmas and here’s to a better 2021 for everyone!
What a relief after waiting thru months – onward and upward!
Indeed.
Hope all goes well in South Africa with the “new variant” scares…
Best wishes š
Lovely selection of cards. I don’t get many but I’m pleased that most are charity ones, and some with robins which I’m always glad to see.
Thanks, I hope you enjoyed yourselves and let’s hope so. xx
A quiet Christmas – as I expect it was for everyone this year.
Happy New Year š
Your friends clearly have good taste / a wicked sense of humour! The three kings on Zoom is inspired, and I love that the cherubs holding up the screen are masked!
It’s always possible to make humour out of tragedy!
All the best for a Happy new Year š
