Monochrome: An advert for the recent Welsh Open snooker tournament in Cardiff features mainly shades of brown
In December I signed up for the Winter Photography Scavenger Hunt hosted by Eileen on her A Bracelet of Days blog. Here’s her introduction to the hunt.
I thought it was a three-month challenge and in this, what I thought was the last month, I have finally managed to take an image for each of the categories, listed here…
* in the bag * contrast * the way to go * colours * a garden gate * vintage * I stood here * 11 o’clock * solitary * the little things * industrial * time for tea * a keyhole * flavour of the month * letters * a barrier * a line * a chain * an alley * monochrome, ie varying shades of the same colour. The spare alternative subjects are: chequers or chess * a community market *
However, I now see I have a month to spare as this goes on until March 31! Oops! I haven’t quite decided what I will do in March yet or whether I will try to find better examples for some of the categories.
Here are my latest snaps:

11 O’clock: The front page of the Times newspaper on Brexit Day – when the UK finally left the European Union at 11pm

In the bag: I had trouble finding something for this as my own rucksack and shopping bags are so messy – this is a display of gift bags in a card-shop window

The little things: I found this intact cockle shell in some very small cockles I bought from the local market fishmonger to use in a seafood spaghetti dish

A chain: This hefty chain is 100 yards from my office in Cardiff Bay…

…it belongs to an old docks scoop now on display as a heritage item

Time for tea: I don’t have dainty teas in pretty cups but I did like this mug I saw in the office kitchen – the girl is holding a clock, which made it seem appropriate for this category. Other mugs include someone’s Cardiff City football mug, one from a highways drainage contractor and at the back one of those big, free Sports Direct mugs

Contrast: I struggled with something for a contrast but thought this ancient and modern dinosaur and modern building might do

Barrier: I had high hopes of visiting the Cardiff Bay Barrage for this one but the weather has been too bad for a long lunchtime walk – so this is just the entrance to the underground car park at County hall
Thanks again to Eileen for hosting this meme – I am enjoying the challenge. My December pictures can be found here and my January pictures here.
I like your take on 11 o’clock and especially the time for tea mug with the clock. The dinosaur is an inspired choice for contrast … I’m still looking for something for that prompt.
Thanks for joining in. I’ll add the linky on my blog on the 29th.
Thanks – and although I got the timings wrong and thought it was three months, I may well keep looking for another month.
Will you be doing a Spring or Summer one this year?
All the best 🙂
I too heard about the Winter Photography Scavenger Hunt hosted by Eileen but i should say viewing your efforts dear Pam, in showcasing each category listed by Eileen for the hunt is extraordinary I should say. I was captivated by your representation of 11 o Clock and Contrast categories. They were not only different but were depicted to-the-point. Thank you and all the best.
Thanks for your kind words. I have never been one to take the “obvious” option…
All the best 🙂
