Colourful leaves of beech (Fagus sylvatica) in Thompson’s Park, Cardiff, at the end of November 2016
Here we are again with the monthly shout-out to all tree followers. If you are new to tree following, read all about it here.
In Cardiff we are right at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, so the days are getting shorter and colder but there are still some colourful leaves remaining on beech trees, a few varieties of maple and even the oak tree I am following, which I will write a post about later this week.
Meanwhile whether you are already a tree follower or not, it could be time to think about finding your tree to follow next year. No rush, you can join in at any time and you don’t really have to do it every single month if that’s too much.
The monthly tree-following link box closed on December 14, but below you will find links to all the wonderful contributions we received this time – and it’s great news that some people have already decided to go on following a tree in 2017 – why not join us?
Here are this month’s contributions:
Linda’s Garden and Wildlife – Buddleia
Alison – Blackberry Garden – quince
June – The Cynical Gardener – Malus domestica ‘James Grieve’
and Erika has already been searching in the snow for a tree to follow in 2017 – here
Frances – Island Threads – Betula pubescens
Hollis – In the Company of Plants and Rocks – searching for a tree to follow in 2017
Pat – Squirrelbasket – old oak
Thank you to everyone – see you all again on January 7! That’s 2017 – wow!
have done
Thanks for that – the link worked perfectly this time π
hello Pat, thanks for the reminder, the first week of December has gone quick!
I will post later in the week when the weather is (hopefully) more suitable for photos,
I already know which tree I will follow next year, the first Rowan I planted is in my front garden and this summer I was thinking, why had I not thought of following this tree, so that sorted my tree for 2017, Frances
just posted my tree, thanks Pat, Frances
Just seen that – a very good post, too, seeing the tree from a different angle this time!
All the best, and I hope you might consider joining me again in 2017 π
Excellent! I’m glad I won’t be alone next year!
All the best π
Hi
I enjoyed following a tree this year, and also the comments I received from other tree followers. So many trees, such interesting stories. Thank you all.
Regards Tineke (from the Netherlands)
I’ve enjoyed seeing your tree growing in a “foreign” land, too.
I think the link isn’t quite right, it points to June, but I will fix it as I found the right one.
All the best π
Copper Beeches are great trees. thanks for hosting this meme for another month/year.
I loved your post, too π
Hi, I remembers to add my post.

All the best.
Thank you – it’s looking good π
I’ve just done my post and added the link. Sorry about the duplication. It’s good to see that you’re continuing to host this again next year. I’m looking forward to following a new tree, Flighty xx
Brilliant! I am so glad I will still have some company tree following next year!
Have a great Christmas π
Found a neat tree-following post … in case you do a tree-news compilation: http://cabinetofcuriosities-greenfingers.blogspot.com/2016/12/a-year-in-life-of-beech-tree-fagus.html (do you know this site?)
happy holidays!
I loved your post and am so glad you intend tree following again next year.
I think I have followed the Cabinet of Curiosities in the past, but I will certainly make sure I do now – and I will add the link to my tree news round-up. Thanks π
