It’s a couple of weeks now since the Cardiff Horticultural Show, but I thought I would share one of my purchases with you.
It’s a white Easter cactus or Hatiora gaertneri. This is not to be confused with the Christmas cactus Schlumbergera bridgesii. I have both of these and although they usually keep to their appropriate seasons, they do sometimes overlap.
At the moment there are a few flowers on my pink Schlumbergera, a lot on my red Hatiora and the flowers on the new white Hatiora are starting to fade.
But here are the starry white flowers in their prime, pictured as the sun moved around one day to shine on to my study windowsill (I know, the earth moves around the sun, but you get my drift…)
Here are my other cactus blog posts:

Three treasures of November
It is beautiful…Michelle
Thanks Michelle – I’m just annoyed I took pictures all day, not realising I was wasting my time and the best would be right at the end when the sun came around 🙂
Really nice looking plant, Pat!
Thank you – but it has now “gone over” and is sprouting tiny new round green/red leaves (or are they swollen stems? I never know with succulents).
Best wishes 🙂
Hi, I’ve been looking for this white for ages. Do you know where I could purchase it? thanks
I’m ever so sorry, but I can’t help you on that one!
I was just lucky I spotted one at the flower show.
And sadly I have now lost the plant – they are not as simple to keep alive as I thought, or I am just hopeless with pot plants!
All the best for 2016 – do I assume you are in Australia?
thanks anyway. I have a dwarf pink which is REALLY picky. I’ve almost lost it several times and it’s on shaky ground now. Doesn’t seem to like the same treatment that I give its red big sister but I do know I can get it again. Yes, I am in Australia and here only a pink and a red seem to be available. If there are other colours, the people who have them, aren’t telling!! Never mind, someone somewhere must have it and thanks to the internet, at least, I have a chance of finding it… slim to nothing chance but still a chance. thanks again.
