Three Ships by Tony Fernandes – a Christmas card design for the RNLI, 2012
It’s that time of year again and may I wish everyone out there a very merry Christmas. I will also use this as an opportunity to “plug” two of my favourite charities.
First I am sparing a moment to think of “those in peril on the sea” and the wonderful people at the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) who risk their own lives to save seafarers.
Of the Christmas cards I received this year, my favourite was the one above, sold on behalf of the RNLI. I always have a soft spot for them as many of my ancestors in Poole, Dorset, were fishermen. By chance Poole is also the home of the RNLI. Here’s their website.
I may send RNLI cards next year, but this year my chosen charity was the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds). Here is my favourite from those I sent out…

Merry Christmas everybody!

Merry Christmas!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the birdie card
Thank you Kerri. It was glittery, too, which you can’t see in the picture.
All the best to you and your “little pieces” in 2013
Merry Christmas to you too. I too support the RNLI. My mother lost a relative in the Penlee lifeboat tragedy. They are such brave guys.
Indeed they are. Near us we also have a very interesting lifeboat station manned by students at Atlantic College…

A happy 2013 to you, too. And thank you so much for the Care2 e-Christmas card!
Merry Xmas to you too Pat.Lovely Xmas greeting cards especially the Wren and Rosehip one as I am fond of birds. The RNLI are fantastic people who risk their lives for others I support both when I get the chance. I also help raise funds for The Leprosy Mission around the world. Best wishes for the New Year to you and family.
There are so many charities around, aren’t there? The Leprosy Mission sounds interesting. I must look it up.
Best wishes
Merry Christmas to you..I love your charities and it made me remember that I wanted to do more research on a relative who was a fisherman and part of some volunteer rescue organization, but I can’t remember just now where or what it was…something to look up…Michelle
Indeed. Look it up before you forget. Or “write it down…” as one of my lecturers used to say
I’m a bit late catching up Pat so I will wish you a Happy New Year instead and hope you enjoyed your festivities!
I am also very late catching up! Just in time to wish you Happy New Year
I usually get my Christmas cards from the RSPB, but will think about using RNLI ones next year too, I like nautical images.
There’s plenty of choice in charity cards these days. Just a shame the postage is so expensive. The price rise hit me rather suddenly when I realised it was 50p for a single second-class stamp. That’s 10 bob in old money!
Best wishes to you and all the bees for 2013
